There is no separate FontCache directory like Windows 10. On Windows 7 and Windows 8.1, the Font Cache files are located directly in the following folder: %Windir%\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local Tip: You can use the following command to stop and start the Windows Font Cache service.
In the command prompt opened as trusted installer, type or copy-paste the following command:ĭel /A /F /Q "%WinDir%\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\FontCache\*FontCache*". Use ExecTI to run cmd.exe as TrustedInstaller. NOTE: If you have stopped the service but still cannot delete the files, here is a workaround. Now, you can start the Windows Font Cache service which you previously stopped. Delete the file %WinDir%\System32\FNTCACHE.DAT. Do not copy and paste the path directly as certain folders are protected and you may need to press the Continue button to access them:Ĭ:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\FontCache 
Go to the following folder by navigating one folder at a time. Click on the Stop button on the toolbar. Find the Windows Font Cache service in the list. Close and reopen Safari for the changes to take effect. From the menu bar in Safari, select Safari, then Clear History and Website Data. Close and reopen Internet Explorer for the changes to take effect. Press Ctrl + Shift + Del to open the "Delete Browsing History" window. Close and reopen Firefox for the changes to take effect. Select Everything from the drop-down menu. Open the "Clear Recent History" window:. Scroll down and tap Choose what to clear under "Clear browsing data.". Open the "More actions" drop-down menu ( ), then tap Settings. If you have a touchscreen and no keyboard: Close and reopen Edge for the changes to take effect. Click Clear to clear your temporary internet files. Press Ctrl + Shift + Del to open the "Clear browsing data" window. 
Close and reopen Chrome for the changes to take effect. Chromebook: Press Ctrl + Shift + Backspace.
